Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Counselling in Guildford and Godalming, Surrey
Maddie Patchett
I am a BACP registered psychotherapist based in Guildford, Surrey. Psychodynamically trained, my approach to counselling looks at how the past has impacted you today.
First and foremost, my approach is warm and welcoming, I aim to make you feel at ease, comfortable and safe in sharing whatever it is that has brought you to counselling.
About me
How we relate to ourselves and others develops through how we were related to.
Exploration of this and your early years enables you to deepen your self awareness and understanding of anxiety inducing triggers.
I am a registered psychotherapist in the UK and have a postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy with Distinction from the University of Greenwich and, a Bachelors degree in Business & Economics.
I am a member of the governing body for counsellors and psychotherapists which is called the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy-BACP. I also have a certificate in Trauma Focused CBT (APT Training).
I have a specialist interest and experience in ADHD, both in understanding symptom manifestation and ongoing treatment.
Some of my further training includes:

Therapy
I am psychodynamically trained which means my work involves looking at the unconscious and how the past has impacted you and your current relationships and mental health challenges today.
Together we will explore these areas and, identify repeating patterns of behaviour that are no longer serving you well.
This approach can help you to understand your true, deep-rooted feelings, to improve self-awareness, to offload and, remove obstacles to personal growth.

Anxiety and Depression
Anxiety and depression are some of the most common mental health challenges we will all face and I can help you overcome.
Together we will work to better understand: how your anxiety manifests itself, what your triggers are, and, how to better manage it going forward to improve your wellbeing.
